Summary

The Short-Term Korean Language Program at Busan University of Foreign Studies is a special program designed for international participants who wish to learn the Korean language and experience Korean culture during the vacation period. Participants in the program will create unforgettable memories through Korean language classes and a variety of unique cultural experience activities throughout the program.

Introduction

Korean Language Class

The Korean language program consists of Korean conversation classes and student exchange activities.
BUFS Korean Language Class
Korean Conversation Classes
  • Students practice conversations in a fun and engaging way across a variety of real-life situations to help them speak Korean more naturally.
  • Duration: Total of 20 hours
  • Level-Based Learning Support: Students are placed into classes according to their Korean proficiency through a placement test.
    Class levels include Beginner 1, 2, 3; Intermediate 1, 2, 3; and Advanced 1, 2.
  • Class Structure: Classes focus on learning useful Korean expressions used in real communication situations and participating in activities that allow students to practice using them in real-life contexts.
Student Exchange Activities
  • A program that allows participants to become friends with students from Busan University of Foreign Studies and engage in conversations focused on language and culture.
  • Duration: Total of 3 hours
  • Activities: Language exchange activities, cultural exchange activities, and team-based cultural experiences

Cultural Classes

The program is designed to help participants understand and enjoy Korea by experiencing its diverse cultures.
BUFS Cultural Classes
Traditional Stamp Experience Participants carve their names in Korean and create their own personalized stamp through hands-on design activities.
Traditional Games Participants experience traditional Korean games and gain an understanding of Korean values and society reflected in these activities.
Taekwondo Participants learn Taekwondo, a traditional Korean martial art, and gain an understanding of Korean values such as courtesy and self-discipline, as well as the culture of mutual respect.
Folk Painting Participants paint traditional Korean folk art and create artwork that reflects their own wishes.
Korean Calligraphy Participants learn Korean calligraphy and decorate their own bag, experiencing the unique beauty of Korean characters.

The Korean Language and Culture Education Center at Busan University of Foreign Studies is recognized as the leading Korean language education institution among universities in the Busan and Gyeongnam region. In addition to its regular program, which operates four semesters a year, the center offers short-term training programs and a variety of customized courses tailored to learners’ needs.

2. Systematic and Professional Education

Busan University of Foreign Studies was the first university outside the Seoul area to establish a major in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, training professional Korean language teachers. As a university specialized in Korean language education, it also produces graduates in the field at the master’s and doctoral levels. All Korean language teachers hold master’s or doctoral degrees in Korean language education, ensuring a very high level of teaching expertise.

3. A Fun and Enjoyable School

The Korean Language and Culture Education Center provide the optimal environment for international students to learn Korean in the most enjoyable and active way. Through engaging classroom activities, after-school programs, and interactions with Korean students, participants naturally experience practical aspects of Korean culture and improve their Korean language skills while communicating with students from diverse nationalities.

4. Friendly Student Guidance

To ensure effective language learning, each class is limited to no more than 15 students. The center operates a “Student Counseling and Learning Support” system to assist learners in their studies and daily life, allowing students to seek guidance whenever needed.
